Dr. Siren Seven
National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC), Cambodia
Dr. Siren Seven received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics from the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) in 2011, his Master of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications) from Telkom University, Indonesia, in 2015, and his Doctor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from NPIC in 2025. He currently serves as Senior Lecturer and Head of the Telecommunication Department at NPIC.
His research interests include satellite communication systems, CubeSat communication subsystems, satellite ground station design, amateur radio, wireless sensor networks, and IoT telemetry. His published research encompasses satellite ground station implementation, geostationary communications via QO-100 with hardware transverters, and hybrid environmental sensing telemetry across various international journals and conferences, including IEEE and other indexed academic publishers. He actively contributes to the academic community as an author and as a peer reviewer for international journals and conferences in electrical, electronic, and computer engineering.
Dr. Seven leads practical satellite communication and space technology education at NPIC through the XU7DX (formerly XU7AMO) amateur radio station, providing students with hands-on experience in geostationary satellite communication via QO-100, low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite tracking, and radio communication with the International Space Station (ISS). A pioneer in developing Cambodia's licensed amateur radio community, he conducts training courses and examinations to prepare students and citizens for amateur radio licenses, and organized the country's first Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF) competition. He is also actively involved in developing student-centered research and training activities that connect telecommunications, embedded systems, IoT, and space technology.
As the UNISEC-Global Point of Contact for Cambodia, Dr. Seven is committed to strengthening international academic collaboration, promoting practical space engineering education, and creating opportunities for Cambodian students to participate in satellite-related projects, technical competitions, and international knowledge exchange. He is working to foster inter-university partnerships and support the development of a UNISEC Cambodia Local Chapter.
